Our International Student Work-study Program

International Student Work-Study Program

Feel confident in knowing that you'll be attending a school with a proud history of success. Established in 1891, Stevens-Henager has been educating motivated students for over 119 years. During this time, our philosophy has always been to develop programs designed to meet changing job market trends, giving students real-world knowledge and skills that will prepare them to make a significant contribution on their very first day of employment. To ensure that our students are receiving a hands-on education that will help them be competitive when they graduate, our Salt Lake City, Utah campus has established many contacts with businesses and industry leaders in the Utah area. Because of those contacts, we are excited to offer a unique work-study program to our international students. If you are enrolled in one of our Master's programs, you will be eligible to work and earn a salary while completing your degree, letting you experience a well-rounded American education both in the workplace and the classroom.

Earn While You Learn

Our unique work-study program

Stevens-Henager's work-study program is an academic opportunity, not an employment opportunity. Our cooperative work-study program is designed to help Master's students apply their classroom knowledge to "hands-on" practical work experiences in the United States.

The legal description for paid employment while earning a Master's degree is Curricular Practical Training (CPT), and is authorized by the Department of Homeland Security for F-1 international students. You can work up to 40 hours per week, earn the same wages as those paid to American workers, and use the money to pay for tuition, fees, living and personal expenses.

Our Career Services department will assist you in finding employment following your first month of study. Also, classes are offered at flexible hours, including evenings to accommodate your work schedule. The work-study program takes 15 months to complete. But, prerequisite courses may extend your completion time by 1 to 6 additional months.
