Logan, UT - Free assistance for preparing and filing taxes is currently available at the Stevens-Henager College Logan campus for community members who made less than $65,000 last year. Stevens-Henager College participates in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, allowing accounting students with special training to provide professional quality tax preparation services to individuals and families in the community. “Stevens-Henager College believes in being a part of our Cache Valley community because we want people to know who we are, what we do, and why we do it,” said James Birman, Executive Director of the Stevens-Henager College campus in Logan. “We also believe in giving back to our community and helping be that pillar of support to our businesses and residents.” The program is completely volunteer-based, with staff and students donating time every week for nearly three months in order to complete the program. Last year, the college assisted 94 people looking for help on their taxes. So far this year, the college has already assisted over 120 people. “It's a win-win situation,” Birman said. “For the community it's a way to get their taxes filed for free. From a student perspective, it's an opportunity for our accounting students to be involved in a real-world application of taxes, management, and interacting with the community.” To receive help with your taxes, contact the college at (435) 752-0903 or visit the campus when volunteers are available at the school - Wednesdays from 5:30-8 p.m., Thursdays from 5:30-8 p.m., and Fridays from 12-3 p.m through April 13th at 755 S. Main St. in Logan. About Stevens-Henager College Stevens-Henager College provides career-focused higher education to students in Utah and Idaho.
