Career Success Grants

First Time College Grant
($5,000 towards tuition)

Designed for independent adults who have never attended college before.

Dependent Student Grant
($5,000 towards tuition)

Designed for those who are “dependent” according to federal financial rules. Typically, applicants are young adults who are not considered financially independent.

Return To Learn Grant
($5,000 towards tuition)

Designed for those who have previously earned some college credits but have not yet earned a degree.

Family Grant

Family Grant
(equal to 10% of tuition)

Grant program designed for immediate family members of enrolled students or graduates from one of our family of colleges:

Scholarship Awards

Through our Good Neighbor Initiative, our family of colleges is proud to offer several generous scholarship awards for adults—from high school seniors just entering college, to career professionals wanting to advance their current degree.

Scholarships Available

Academic Scholarship

Academic Scholarship
(Up to $8,000 — High School Seniors)

Academic scholarships of up to $8,000 may be awarded by an campus to graduating high school seniors. To use the scholarship, award recipients must enroll and start classes at the college within one year from the date they graduated high school. Applicants who graduate from high school with a GPA of 3.5 or higher (as evidenced on an official transcript) are exempt from testing. Other applicants must take the Otis Lennon School Ability Test and can receive an award based upon the following scores:

  • Applicants who score >34—Scholarship award of $7,000
  • Applicants who score >46—Scholarship award of $7,500
  • Applicants who score >58—Scholarship award of $8,000

 
To remain eligible for an academic scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 90% attendance. There is no limit on the number of academic scholarships that each college location can award each year.

Build a Better Future Scholarship

Build a Better Future Scholarship
($3,000 — GED® credentialed)

Congratulations on earning your GED® test credential! Now we’d like to help you take the next step—train for a career you’ll love. That’s why we’re pleased to offer the Build a Better Future scholarship, so you can continue your education and pursue a career-focused college degree.

To be eligible, the applicant must have completed GED® classes from one of our schools, must have earned their GED® credential, and must apply for the scholarship within one (1) year of earning their GED® credential. In addition, the applicant must have a recommendation letter from the institution’s GED® test coordinator. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Bachelor’s Upgrade Scholarship

Bachelor’s Upgrade Scholarship
($5,000 towards tuition)

This scholarship is available to graduates who earned their Associate’s degree from one of our schools— Steven-Henager College, CollegeAmerica, California College San Diego, or Independence University.

In order to qualify, the applicant must have graduated with an Associate’s degree from the school with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. In addition, the applicant must submit a 500-word essay to the Campus Director on his/her goals for completion of the Bachelor’s program. Once awarded, the recipient has seven (7) years from the date of graduation from a CEHE Associate’s degree program to use the scholarship for one of our Bachelor’s degree programs.

Master’s Upgrade Scholarship

Master’s Upgrade Scholarship
(50% of cost of Master’s degree program)

This scholarship is available to graduates who earned their Bachelor’s degree from one of our schools: Steven-Henager College, CollegeAmerica, California College San Diego, or Independence University.

In order to qualify, the applicant must have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the school with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. In addition, the applicant must submit a 500-word essay to the Campus Director on his/her goals for completion of the Master’s program. Once awarded, the recipient has one (1) year from the date of graduation from a CEHE Bachelor’s degree program to use the scholarship for one of CEHE’s Master’s programs. The tuition scholarship will be awarded upon graduation from the Master’s program.

Federal Perkins Loan

Loan: must be repaid.Five percent loans for both undergraduate and graduate students; payment is owed to the school that made the loan.$5,500 for undergraduate students;

Direct Subsidized Loan

Loan: must be repaid.Direct Subsidized: U.S. Department of Education pays interest while borrower is in school and during grace and deferment periods.$3,500 to $8,500, depending on grade level.
Direct Unsubsidized Loan

Loan: must be repaid.Direct Unsubsidized: Borrower is responsible for interest during life of the loan.$4,000 to $18,500, depending on grade level (If you do not qualify for Direct Subsidized loan).
Federal PLUS Loan

Loan: must be repaid.Available to parents of dependent undergraduate students.Cost of attendance minus any other financial aid the student receives.
